American Grilled Skewers 2

Serves 4 to 6 Appetizer meat, Appetizers

American Grilled Skewers 2

American Grilled Skewers 2 takes its cues from the lively backyard gatherings and family cookouts that pepper American summers. This dish, rooted in a tradition of casual dining, brings together the simplicity of lamb, onion, and spices, capturing the essence of home-cooked comfort. It's a way to transform a sunny afternoon into an occasion, where the grill becomes the heart of the meal.

The skewers deliver a robust flavor, with juicy lamb cubes seasoned generously with cumin, sea salt, and black pepper, all kissed by the warmth of olive oil. Each bite offers a satisfying blend of savory and smoky, with the onion adding a sweet counterpoint. They are meant to be passed around the table, encouraging a shared, familial experience that feels both familiar and special.

Ingredients

  • 600 glamb cubes
  • 1onion
  • 2 tbspolive oil
  • 1 tspcumin
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Start by preparing the lamb cubes and onion. Cut the onion into large chunks, similar in size to the lamb cubes, to ensure even cooking. Thread the lamb and onion alternately onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece to allow heat to circulate and cook evenly.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil with 1 teaspoon of cumin. Stir until the cumin is evenly distributed in the oil. This mixture will help to infuse the lamb with flavor and keep it moist during grilling.
  3. Brush the cumin-infused olive oil generously over the skewers, ensuring each piece of lamb and onion is well-coated. This step not only adds flavor but also helps to prevent the meat from sticking to the grill.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Place the skewers on the grill, spacing them evenly apart. Grill the skewers, turning occasionally, until the lamb is browned on all sides and cooked to your desired level of doneness. The lamb should have a slightly charred exterior and be juicy inside, which typically takes about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Once the skewers are cooked, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute within the meat, ensuring each bite is flavorful and tender.
  6. Finish by sprinkling the skewers with fine sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Serve the skewers immediately, encouraging everyone to enjoy the communal experience of sharing this flavorful dish.
