Chinese Meat Pastry Bites 3

Chinese Meat Pastry Bites 3 embodies the essence of home-cooked comfort, crafted with intuitive expertise in the bustling heart of family kitchens. The art of preparing these pastries involves a keen eye for balance and generosity, where salt is measured by instinct and the richness of fat is welcomed rather than shunned. This dish is a staple on family tables, meant for sharing amongst loved ones, much like the treasured recipes passed down through generations.

With each bite, you experience a delightful contrast: a crisp, golden pastry shell encasing a savory filling of tender ground beef and sweet onions. The seasoning is subtle yet effective, where fine sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper enhance, not overpower. These bites invite a communal enjoyment, encouraging diners to reach for seconds, savoring both the flavor and the moment.

Ingredients

  • 300 gground beef
  • 1onion
  • 12pastry wrappers
  • for fryingoil
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Start by finely chopping 1 onion. In a mixing bowl, combine 300 g ground beef with the chopped onion. Season the mixture with fine sea salt and black pepper to taste, mixing thoroughly to ensure even distribution of the seasoning throughout the meat.
  2. Lay out the 12 pastry wrappers on a clean, flat surface. Place a small spoonful of the beef and onion mixture in the center of each wrapper. Fold the wrappers over the filling, sealing the edges by pressing them firmly together. You can use a little water on your fingertips to help seal the edges if needed.
  3. Heat a generous amount of oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. The oil should be enough to cover the bottom of the pan to ensure even frying. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the filled pastry bites in the pan, making sure not to overcrowd them.
  4. Fry the pastry bites until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides. This should take about 2-3 minutes per side. You will know they are done when the pastry is firm to the touch and the filling is cooked through, with the aroma of cooked beef and onion filling the air.
  5. Remove the cooked pastry bites from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Sprinkle a little more fine sea salt over the top while they are still hot, if desired, to enhance the flavor. Serve the Chinese Meat Pastry Bites immediately, while they are still warm and crispy, for the best texture and taste.
