Indian Meat Pastry Bites 2

Indian Meat Pastry Bites 2 reflect the heart of Indian home cooking, where intuition guides the hand more than any precise measure. This dish is a staple during festive gatherings and casual family evenings, capturing the spirit of sharing and togetherness. Cooked with a generous hand, it embodies the essence of comfort and warmth, bringing joy to the table with its delightful simplicity.

Each bite offers a satisfying crunch from the golden pastry, yielding to a savory filling of seasoned ground beef and sweet onions. The balance of fine sea salt and freshly ground black pepper enhances the natural flavors, creating a harmonious blend that is both rich and comforting. Serve them hot, straight from the pan, and watch them disappear as fast as they are made.

Ingredients

  • 300 gground beef
  • 1onion
  • 12pastry wrappers
  • for fryingoil
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Begin by finely chopping 1 onion. This will provide a base of flavor and texture for the filling. Ensure the pieces are small and uniform to cook evenly and blend well with the meat.
  2. In a large skillet, add enough oil to generously coat the bottom and heat over medium-high. Once the oil shimmers, add the chopped onion. Stir frequently until the onion becomes translucent and slightly golden, releasing its sweet aroma.
  3. Add 300 g ground beef to the skillet with the onions. Use a wooden spoon to break up the meat into small pieces, ensuring it mixes well with the onions. Cook until the beef is browned and no pink remains, which should take on a rich, savory scent.
  4. Season the beef and onion mixture with fine sea salt and black pepper to taste. Stir well to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary, keeping in mind that the filling should be flavorful but not overpowering.
  5. Lay out 12 pastry wrappers on a clean, dry surface. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each wrapper, being careful not to overfill. Fold the wrappers to enclose the filling, sealing the edges by pressing firmly or using a fork to crimp.
  6. In a clean skillet, add enough oil for frying and heat over medium-high. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the filled pastry bites in the skillet. Fry in batches if necessary, turning occasionally, until the pastry is golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  7. Remove the pastry bites from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Finish with a light sprinkle of fine sea salt while still hot to enhance the flavor. Serve immediately, allowing the crispiness of the pastry and the savory filling to shine.
