Middle Eastern Meat Pastry Bites 3

Middle Eastern Meat Pastry Bites 3 brings the warmth of a home-cooked meal to your table. This dish is a staple in Middle Eastern households, where it's prepared with a generous hand of salt and fat, embodying the essence of family-style dining.

Expect a savory filling of ground beef and onions, seasoned simply with fine sea salt and black pepper, all encased in crispy pastry wrappers. These bites are perfect for sharing, capturing the spirit of communal meals with their rich, comforting flavors.

Ingredients

  • 300 gground beef
  • 1onion
  • 12pastry wrappers
  • for fryingoil
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Begin by finely dicing 1 onion. This will ensure the onion cooks evenly and blends well with the ground beef, providing a balanced flavor throughout the filling.
  2. In a large skillet, heat enough oil to generously coat the bottom over medium heat. Once the oil shimmers, add the diced onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion becomes translucent and soft, releasing its sweet aroma, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add 300 g of ground beef to the skillet with the onions. Use a wooden spoon to break up the meat into small pieces, ensuring it browns evenly. Cook until the beef is browned and no pink remains, and the mixture is fragrant with a slight caramelized aroma.
  4. Season the beef and onion mixture with fine sea salt and black pepper to taste. Stir well to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  5. Lay out 12 pastry wrappers on a clean surface. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each wrapper. Fold the wrappers over the filling, sealing the edges by pressing them firmly together. Ensure there are no gaps to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking.
  6. In a clean skillet, heat enough oil for frying over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot and shimmering, carefully add the pastry bites in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until the pastry is golden brown and crisp on all sides, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  7. Remove the pastry bites from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Finish with a light sprinkle of fine sea salt while still hot to enhance the flavor. Serve the Middle Eastern Meat Pastry Bites immediately, encouraging sharing and enjoyment at the table.
