Indian Fruit Drink 2

Indian Fruit Drink 2 is a refreshing staple in many Indian households, often made during the sweltering summer months. It's a simple, yet cherished beverage that finds its place at the table during family gatherings or casual afternoons spent indoors. Passed down through generations, this drink is prepared with the intuitive touch of home cooks who know just the right amount of salt and sugar to balance the flavors.

Expect a burst of citrusy notes from the lemons or oranges, balanced with a gentle sweetness from the sugar, and a refreshing coolness from the ice. The drink is light, invigorating, and perfectly quenches thirst on a hot day. It's a reminder of the uncomplicated joy found in sharing a well-loved recipe with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 4lemons or oranges
  • 100 gsugar
  • 1 Lwater
  • as neededice

Method

  1. Begin by preparing the citrus base. Roll 4 lemons or oranges on the countertop with gentle pressure to loosen the juices inside. Cut each fruit in half and use a juicer to extract the juice into a bowl, ensuring no seeds fall in. You should have about 200 ml of juice; adjust with more fruit if necessary to maintain the balance of flavors.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine 100 g of sugar with 1 L of water. Place the pan over medium heat and stir occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves. The mixture should become clear and slightly thickened, indicating the sugar is fully integrated.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the sugar water to cool to room temperature. This step is crucial to prevent the citrus juice from becoming bitter when mixed with hot liquid. Once cooled, pour the citrus juice into the sugar water and stir gently to combine, preserving the fresh aroma of the fruit.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a large pitcher and place it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours. This chilling period allows the flavors to meld and the drink to reach a refreshing temperature.
  5. When ready to serve, fill each glass with ice cubes to keep the drink cold and refreshing. Pour the chilled fruit drink over the ice, ensuring each glass receives an equal share of the citrusy goodness. Serve immediately in traditional glassware to enjoy the authentic experience of Indian Fruit Drink 2.
