Indian Yogurt Drink 2

Indian Yogurt Drink 2 is a comforting staple in many Indian households, often gracing the table during hot summer afternoons. This home-style version reflects the way Indian family cooks bring it to life, with salt measured instinctively and a generous use of fat. Unlike its more elaborate restaurant counterparts, this drink is straightforward, focusing on simplicity and freshness.

The taste is a balanced embrace of creamy yogurt and a whisper of salt, chilled to perfection with cold water and ice. It is cooling and satisfying, with a texture that glides softly across the palate. Perfect for sipping slowly, it offers a refreshing break from the midday heat, leaving you revitalized and ready to continue your day.

Ingredients

  • 400 gyogurt
  • 300 mlcold water
  • 1/2 tspfine sea salt
  • as neededice

Method

  1. Begin by ensuring your yogurt is chilled. Place 400 g of yogurt in the refrigerator for at least an hour before you start, as this will help achieve the refreshing coolness typical of Indian Yogurt Drink 2.
  2. Once the yogurt is chilled, measure 300 ml of cold water. It's important to use cold water to maintain the drink's refreshing quality and to help blend smoothly with the yogurt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chilled yogurt and cold water. Use a whisk or a hand blender to gently mix them together. The goal is to achieve a smooth, frothy consistency without losing the yogurt's creamy texture.
  4. Add 1/2 tsp of fine sea salt to the mixture. Stir gently to ensure the salt is evenly distributed throughout the drink, enhancing the yogurt's natural flavor without overpowering it.
  5. Prepare your serving glasses by placing a few ice cubes in each. This will keep the drink cold and refreshing as you serve it.
  6. Carefully pour the yogurt drink into the prepared glasses, ensuring each glass receives an equal amount of the frothy mixture.
  7. Serve the Indian Yogurt Drink 2 immediately, using traditional glassware if available, to honor the authentic presentation. Enjoy the drink's creamy texture and subtle saltiness, perfect for a refreshing treat.
