Lebanese Spiced Tea 2

Lebanese Spiced Tea 2 is a cherished staple in Lebanese homes, crafted with an intuition that comes from years of practice. This tea is not reserved for grand occasions or celebrations but finds its place in the comforting routine of daily life. It's the kind of brew that welcomes you back home after a long day or accompanies you through a quiet afternoon, shared with friends or family at a well-loved table.

Expect a deep, robust flavor from the generous use of tea leaves, balanced by the warmth of spices and a touch of sweetness. It should envelop the senses, offering a comforting embrace with each sip. This is not a tea for hurried moments; it is best enjoyed slowly, allowing each nuanced note to unfold.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsptea leaves
  • 500 mlwater
  • to tastespices
  • to tastesugar

Method

  1. Start by bringing 500 ml of water to a gentle boil in a medium saucepan. Use medium heat to ensure the water heats evenly. As the water begins to boil, you'll notice small bubbles forming and rising to the surface.
  2. Once the water is boiling, add 2 tablespoons of tea leaves to the saucepan. Stir gently with a spoon to ensure the leaves are fully submerged and begin to release their flavors. You'll notice the water starting to take on a rich, amber hue.
  3. Add your choice of spices to the tea. Traditional options include cardamom, cinnamon, or cloves. Start with a small pinch of each and adjust according to your taste preference. Stir gently to blend the spices with the tea.
  4. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. You'll know it's ready when the aroma of the spices is robust and the color of the tea is a deep, inviting brown.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the tea into a teapot or directly into serving glasses using a fine mesh strainer. This will ensure that the tea leaves and spices are removed, leaving a clear, fragrant tea.
  6. Taste the tea and add sugar as desired, stirring until it dissolves completely. The sugar should balance the spices without overpowering them, enhancing the overall flavor of the tea.
  7. Serve the Lebanese Spiced Tea immediately in traditional glassware. The tea should be warm and inviting, perfect for sharing around the table with family and friends.
