Lebanese Yogurt Drink 2

Lebanese Yogurt Drink 2 is a staple of family meals, especially during the warmer months when its refreshing chill is most welcome. Unlike its commercial counterparts, this version is crafted with a personal touch, capturing the essence of home cooking in Lebanon. The salt is not measured but felt, and the richness of the fat is embraced, making it a cherished part of the dining experience.

This yogurt drink is a smooth, tangy refreshment with a hint of salt that accentuates its creamy texture. The addition of cold water and a few ice cubes transforms it into a cooling elixir, ideal for quenching thirst and complementing the variety of flavors on the Lebanese table. It offers a moment of pause in the meal, a soothing sip that bridges the vibrant dishes around it.

Ingredients

  • 400 gyogurt
  • 300 mlcold water
  • 1/2 tspfine sea salt
  • as neededice

Method

  1. Start by chilling your serving glasses in the refrigerator. This ensures that the drink stays refreshingly cold when served, enhancing the traditional experience of Lebanese Yogurt Drink 2.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, measure 400 g of yogurt. It's important to use plain, unsweetened yogurt to maintain the authentic flavor of the drink.
  3. Add 300 ml of cold water to the yogurt. Use a whisk to gently combine the two, stirring slowly to avoid losing the creamy texture and aroma of the yogurt.
  4. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of fine sea salt into the mixture. Stir gently until the salt is fully dissolved, ensuring the drink has a balanced, savory taste that complements the yogurt.
  5. Prepare a serving pitcher by adding a few ice cubes. This will keep the drink cold without diluting it too much.
  6. Pour the yogurt mixture into the prepared pitcher over the ice. Stir gently to incorporate the ice and ensure an even chill throughout the drink.
  7. Serve the Lebanese Yogurt Drink 2 immediately in the chilled glasses. This preserves the refreshing quality of the drink, making it perfect for sharing around the table.
