American Nut Sweet 2

Serves 4 to 6 Dessert vegetarian, Desserts

American Nut Sweet 2

American Nut Sweet 2 is a quintessential treat often found in the heart of American homes, especially during festive gatherings and holiday seasons. This version captures the essence of family-style cooking, where the salt is measured by instinct and butter flows freely, ensuring each bite is rich and indulgent. Passed down through generations, this recipe embodies the warmth of a shared table.

When you bite into this sweet, expect a delightful crunch from the nuts, perfectly balanced by the buttery, sugary goodness that envelops them. The texture is both crumbly and moist, thanks to the eggs and flour, creating a melt-in-your-mouth experience that feels comforting and familiar. Enjoy it as a standalone treat or alongside a warm cup of coffee, making everyday moments a little sweeter.

Ingredients

  • 200 gnuts — chopped
  • 150 gsugar
  • 100 gbutter
  • 2eggs
  • 100 gflour

Method

  1. Begin by taking 100 g of butter out of the refrigerator and allowing it to come to room temperature. This will make it easier to cream with the sugar later. Also, crack 2 eggs into a bowl and let them sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. This helps them incorporate better into the batter.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the 100 g of butter over low heat. Once melted, add 150 g of sugar and stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely. The mixture should become smooth and glossy, indicating that the sugar has melted properly.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly. Then, whisk in the 2 room-temperature eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. This gradual incorporation prevents the eggs from cooking in the warm mixture.
  4. Once the eggs are well mixed, gradually add 100 g of flour to the saucepan. Stir gently until you achieve a smooth, lump-free batter. The batter should be thick but pourable, with a uniform consistency.
  5. Fold in 200 g of nuts into the batter, ensuring they are evenly distributed. You can use any nuts of your choice, such as walnuts or pecans, depending on your preference. The nuts should be coated well with the batter.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the batter into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, indicating the batter is fully cooked.
  7. Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool slightly on a wire rack. This cooling period allows the sweet to set properly and makes it easier to cut. Serve the American Nut Sweet 2 warm or at room temperature, allowing the flavors to shine through.
