Brasileiro Herb Dip 2

Serves 4 to 6 Dip vegetarian, Appetizers

Brasileiro Herb Dip 2

Brasileiro Herb Dip 2 is a beloved staple at Brazilian home tables, where it thrives not just as a dish but as a shared experience. It's crafted with a generous hand, echoing the warmth of Brazilian hospitality. Unlike its restaurant counterparts, this dip is a family affair, prepared with instinct and a touch of spontaneity. Salt is not measured but felt, and the richness of yogurt and olive oil invites the herbs to dance in harmony.

The dip presents a luscious texture, with yogurt providing a creamy backdrop to the vibrant burst of fresh herbs and the gentle heat of garlic. Olive oil glistens as it finishes the surface, offering a silky mouthfeel that complements the savory undertones. This isn't just a dish to taste—it's an invitation to dip, scoop, and savor, embodying the generous spirit of a Brazilian home-cooked meal.

Ingredients

  • 400 gyogurt
  • herbs — chopped
  • 2 clovesgarlic
  • to finisholive oil
  • to tastefine sea salt

Method

  1. Start by preparing the base of your dip. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add 400 g of yogurt. Choose a thick, creamy yogurt for the best texture. Finely chop a generous handful of fresh herbs such as parsley, cilantro, or chives, and add them to the yogurt. Use a blender or a mortar and pestle to blend the yogurt and herbs until the mixture is smooth and the herbs are evenly distributed, giving the dip a vibrant green speckled appearance.
  2. Next, incorporate the olive oil into the yogurt mixture. Drizzle in about 2 tablespoons of olive oil slowly while stirring continuously. This will help emulsify the dip, giving it a rich and silky texture. Make sure the oil is well combined and the dip looks glossy and smooth.
  3. Peel and finely mince 2 cloves of garlic. Add the minced garlic to the yogurt mixture. Stir well to ensure the garlic is evenly distributed. Taste the dip on a piece of bread to evaluate the flavor. Gradually add fine sea salt to taste, mixing thoroughly after each addition until the flavors are balanced and to your liking.
  4. Allow the dip to rest for at least 10 minutes at room temperature. This brief resting period allows the flavors to meld together, enhancing the overall taste. Once rested, give the dip a final stir and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Serve the Brasileiro Herb Dip 2 cool, drizzling a little more olive oil on top as a finishing touch. Present it in a shallow bowl or on a platter, surrounded by fresh bread or vegetable sticks for dipping. Enjoy this flavorful dip as part of a shared meal, embodying the communal spirit of Brazilian home cooking.
