American Beef Skewers 3

American Beef Skewers 3 brings the essence of a casual backyard gathering right to your kitchen. This recipe reflects the way many American families enjoy beef skewers at home — unpretentious and generous in spirit. With salt judged by hand and a generous use of fat, these skewers are designed for sharing, embodying the relaxed, communal vibe of a weekend cookout.

Expect each skewer to deliver a satisfying bite of tender beef, enriched by the earthy warmth of cumin and the subtle sweetness of onion. The black pepper adds a gentle heat, while the oil ensures each cube is succulent and flavorful. Share these skewers with friends or family, and let their simplicity shine at your table.

Ingredients

  • 800 gbeef cubes
  • 1onion
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 1 tspcumin
  • as neededskewers
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Begin by placing the 800 g of beef cubes in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle them evenly with 1 tsp of cumin, fine sea salt, and black pepper to taste. Toss the cubes with your hands to ensure each piece is well-coated with the seasoning. This step enhances the flavor of the beef, making sure it's well-seasoned before cooking.
  2. Peel and cut the onion into large chunks, about the same size as the beef cubes. This will help the onion cook evenly alongside the beef on the skewers. Thread the beef cubes and onion chunks alternately onto the skewers, ensuring each skewer is balanced with an equal amount of meat and onion.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the skewers in the skillet, ensuring they do not overcrowd the pan. This will allow each piece of beef to brown properly. Cook the skewers, turning occasionally, until the beef is browned on all sides and the onions have started to caramelize, about 8-10 minutes. The beef should have a deep brown crust, indicating it's ready for the next step.
  4. If you prefer to grill, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Place the skewers on the grill and cook, turning occasionally, until the beef is tender and the onions are slightly charred. This should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on your grill's heat. The beef should feel firm to the touch but still slightly springy, indicating it's cooked through.
  5. Once the beef is tender and cooked to your liking, remove the skewers from the heat. Taste a piece of beef and adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed. Serve the skewers hot, accompanied by rice, bread, or a fresh salad, allowing everyone at the table to share and enjoy the meal.
