Indian Beef Skewers 2

Serves 4 to 6 Entree meat

Indian Beef Skewers 2

Indian Beef Skewers 2 captures the essence of home cooking, crafted with a practiced hand that knows how much salt to sprinkle and how generously to brush the oil. This dish is a staple in Indian households, often prepared for family gatherings where the joy of sharing a meal is as important as the flavors themselves. It is an unpretentious dish, yet it speaks volumes of the care and tradition that go into a home-cooked meal.

The skewers offer a robust and aromatic taste, with cumin lending its warmth and the beef absorbing the onion's sweetness. Each bite should be tender, with a hint of black pepper's gentle heat, all balanced by the subtlety of fine sea salt. The result is a dish that invites one to savor and share, embodying the spirit of a meal made with love and attention.

Ingredients

  • 800 gbeef cubes
  • 1onion
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 1 tspcumin
  • as neededskewers
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Begin by placing the 800 g beef cubes in a large mixing bowl. Add 1 tsp cumin, fine sea salt, and black pepper to taste. Use your hands to mix thoroughly, ensuring each piece of beef is evenly coated with the spices. This step ensures the meat absorbs the flavors deeply.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil shimmers, add the seasoned beef cubes in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Allow the beef to brown on all sides, turning occasionally. Look for a deep, rich brown color on the surface of the meat, which indicates a good sear and flavor development.
  3. While the beef is browning, peel and finely slice 1 onion. Once the beef is browned, remove it from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and sauté over medium heat until the onion becomes translucent and starts to caramelize, which will add sweetness and depth to the dish.
  4. Return the browned beef cubes to the skillet with the caramelized onions. If you prefer to grill, thread the beef cubes onto skewers and place them on a preheated grill. Cook until the beef is tender, checking occasionally. The beef should feel firm yet yield slightly when pressed, indicating it is cooked through.
  5. Taste a piece of beef and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and black pepper if necessary. Serve the Indian Beef Skewers 2 with rice, bread, or a fresh salad, ensuring the dish is shared among family and friends, as is traditional in Indian home cooking.
