Serves 4 to 6 Entree meat

Lebanese Beef Skewers 3

Lebanese Beef Skewers 3 brings the warmth of home cooking to your table, echoing the traditions of family meals in Lebanon. This dish is a staple of everyday dining, prepared with simple yet essential techniques passed through generations. The beef is cubed and marinated with generous amounts of salt, cumin, and pepper, then skewered with onions to infuse each bite with subtle sweetness and spice.

Expect tender, juicy beef that carries the earthy notes of cumin and the savory embrace of grilled onions. The skewers are meant to be shared, encouraging a communal dining experience where stories flow as freely as the dishes themselves. It's a taste of Lebanese hospitality, plated for all to enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 800 gbeef cubes
  • 1onion
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 1 tspcumin
  • as neededskewers
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Start by preparing the beef cubes, 800 g, by placing them in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle 1 tsp of cumin evenly over the meat, ensuring each piece gets a touch of the spice. Add fine sea salt and black pepper to taste, using your fingers to gently massage the seasoning into the meat, enhancing the flavors and allowing the spices to penetrate.
  2. Peel and finely chop 1 onion, then add it to the bowl with the seasoned beef. Mix well to combine, ensuring the onion pieces are evenly distributed among the beef cubes. This will add a subtle sweetness and depth to the skewers as they cook.
  3. Thread the seasoned beef cubes onto skewers, leaving a small gap between each piece to ensure even cooking. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes beforehand to prevent burning.
  4. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot and shimmering, carefully place the skewers in the pan. Brown the beef on all sides, turning occasionally, until each piece develops a deep, rich color. This caramelization is key for flavor.
  5. Once the beef is browned, reduce the heat to medium and continue cooking the skewers until the meat is tender. This should take a few more minutes, and you can check for doneness by cutting into a piece to ensure it's cooked to your preference.
  6. Taste a piece of beef for seasoning, adjusting with more salt if necessary. The flavors should be balanced, with a hint of spice from the cumin and a savory depth from the salt and pepper.
  7. Serve the Lebanese Beef Skewers 3 hot, accompanied by rice, bread, or a fresh salad. Arrange them on a platter for a communal dining experience, inviting everyone to share and enjoy the meal together.
