Middle Eastern Beef Skewers 2

Middle Eastern Beef Skewers 2 reflects the essence of home cooking across the region, where meals are crafted with intuition rather than strict measurements. This dish is a staple at family gatherings, a humble yet generous offering that captures the spirit of Middle Eastern hospitality. It's the kind of recipe passed down through generations, tweaked slightly by each cook to suit their taste, yet always staying true to its roots.

Expect the skewers to deliver a robust flavor, where cumin lends a warm, earthy note and onion infuses sweetness into tender beef cubes. With salt and pepper adjusted by instinct, each bite should feel balanced and satisfying. These skewers shine when shared around a bustling table, inviting everyone to savor their rich, aromatic essence.

Ingredients

  • 800 gbeef cubes
  • 1onion
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 1 tspcumin
  • as neededskewers
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Begin by placing the 800 g of beef cubes in a large mixing bowl. Season them generously with fine sea salt and black pepper to taste, ensuring each piece is evenly coated. Sprinkle 1 tsp of cumin over the beef, massaging the spices into the meat with your hands to enhance flavor absorption.
  2. Peel and finely chop 1 onion. In a large skillet or grill pan, heat 2 tbsp of oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil shimmers, add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and fragrant, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the seasoned beef cubes to the pan in a single layer, ensuring they do not crowd each other. Allow them to brown on one side without moving them for a few minutes until a deep, rich color develops. Turn the cubes to brown all sides evenly, ensuring a crust forms that locks in the juices.
  4. If using a grill, thread the browned beef cubes onto skewers, leaving a small space between each piece for even cooking. Place the skewers on the grill over medium heat. If continuing in the pan, reduce the heat to medium and cover with a lid to allow the beef to cook through.
  5. Cook the beef until it is tender and the internal juices run clear when pierced with a skewer or knife. This should result in a juicy interior with a slightly charred exterior, indicative of proper cooking.
  6. Once cooked, remove the beef from the heat and taste a piece to check for seasoning. Adjust with additional salt or pepper if necessary, keeping in mind the flavors should be bold and balanced.
  7. Serve the Middle Eastern Beef Skewers 2 immediately, accompanied by rice, bread, or a fresh salad. The dish is designed for sharing, so arrange it on a large platter to invite communal enjoyment.
