Middle Eastern Beef Skewers 3

Middle Eastern Beef Skewers 3 brings the essence of home cooking to your table, capturing the spirit of shared meals and familial warmth. This dish is crafted the way home cooks across the Middle East have done for generations, with salt measured by intuition and a generous hand with fat to ensure each bite is rich and satisfying. The skewers are a staple of casual gatherings, where the focus is on the joy of eating together.

Expect tender beef cubes, deeply infused with the earthy warmth of cumin and the subtle sweetness of onion. The seasoning is simple yet precise, allowing the purity of the ingredients to shine. Each skewer is a reminder of the comfort found in tradition, offering a straightforward but deeply satisfying eating experience that invites sharing and connection.

Ingredients

  • 800 gbeef cubes
  • 1onion
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 1 tspcumin
  • as neededskewers
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Begin by placing the 800 g of beef cubes in a large mixing bowl. Season them generously with fine sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Add 1 tsp of cumin, ensuring each piece is evenly coated with the spices. Use your hands to gently massage the seasoning into the meat, enhancing the flavors and allowing the spices to adhere well.
  2. Peel and finely chop 1 onion. In a large skillet or frying pan, heat 2 tbsp of oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. This will infuse the oil with onion flavor, which will enhance the taste of the beef.
  3. Add the seasoned beef cubes to the pan, ensuring they are in a single layer for even cooking. Allow them to brown on all sides, turning occasionally. You're looking for a deep, rich color on the surface of the meat, which indicates that the sugars in the meat have caramelized, adding depth to the flavor.
  4. Once the beef is well-browned, decide whether to braise or grill. For braising, add a small amount of water or broth to the pan, cover, and reduce the heat to low. Simmer gently until the beef is tender, checking occasionally. For grilling, thread the beef cubes onto skewers and grill over medium-high heat, turning frequently until the beef is cooked through and tender.
  5. Taste a piece of beef to check for seasoning. Adjust with more salt or pepper if necessary. Serve the Middle Eastern Beef Skewers with your choice of rice, bread, or salad, ensuring the dish is warm and inviting for sharing at the table.
