Middle Eastern Shrimp Pan

Middle Eastern Shrimp Pan is a dish that brings the essence of home cooking to the table, capturing the simplicity and warmth of Middle Eastern family meals. It's a straightforward dish where shrimp, garlic, and olive oil come together, seasoned with lemon, chili, and salt, creating a vibrant and flavorful experience.

This dish is enjoyed across various Middle Eastern regions, where the focus is on sharing and enjoying food with loved ones. The generous use of olive oil and the balance of garlic and lemon give it a rich, tangy, and slightly spicy taste that is both comforting and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 600 gshrimp
  • 4 clovesgarlic
  • 80 mlolive oil
  • lemonjuiced
  • to tastechili
  • to tastefine sea salt

Method

  1. Start by cleaning the 600 g of shrimp. Remove the shells and devein them if needed, then rinse under cold water. Pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels to ensure they sear properly when cooked.
  2. In a large skillet, pour 80 ml of olive oil and heat it over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add 4 cloves of garlic, finely minced. Stir the garlic gently and cook until it becomes fragrant and just begins to turn golden, being careful not to let it burn.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer, ensuring each piece makes contact with the hot surface. Cook for about 2 minutes on one side until the shrimp start to turn pink and opaque at the edges.
  4. Flip the shrimp over and continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes. The shrimp should be fully opaque and slightly firm to the touch, indicating they are perfectly cooked.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and squeeze the juice of one lemon over the shrimp. Season with chili and fine sea salt to taste, adjusting the seasoning until it suits your preference.
  6. Serve the shrimp immediately, ensuring they are still warm. The dish is best enjoyed fresh, with the flavors of garlic and lemon complementing the succulent shrimp.
