American Sweet Syrup Cake 2

American Sweet Syrup Cake 2 finds its roots in the kitchens where family recipes are passed down through generations, a staple for weekend gatherings and casual celebrations. This cake is a home cook's delight, capturing the essence of American baking with simplicity and warmth. It’s the dish you bring out when the air turns crisp and the chatter around the table turns lively.

This cake is a velvety embrace of rich butter and sweet syrup, with a crumb that holds its own yet melts in your mouth. The syrup soaking ensures a moist texture, offering a luscious bite that pairs perfectly with a steaming cup of coffee or tea. Generous in its proportions, it's designed for sharing, inviting everyone around the table to indulge in its comforting sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 200 gflour
  • 150 gsugar
  • 100 gbutter
  • 3eggs
  • syrupto soak

Method

  1. Begin by taking 100 g of butter and 3 eggs out of the refrigerator. Allow them to come to room temperature. This ensures that the butter will cream properly with the sugar, and the eggs will incorporate smoothly into the batter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the 100 g of softened butter and 150 g of sugar using a hand mixer or a wooden spoon. Mix until the mixture is light and fluffy, which will take a few minutes. This step is crucial for incorporating air into the batter, resulting in a lighter cake.
  3. Add the 3 room-temperature eggs to the creamed butter and sugar, one at a time. Beat well after each addition until fully incorporated. This gradual addition helps maintain the emulsion and prevents the batter from curdling.
  4. Sift 200 g of flour into the bowl with the wet ingredients. Gently fold the flour into the mixture using a spatula or wooden spoon. Be careful not to overmix; stop as soon as the flour is just combined to avoid a dense cake.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter or line it with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake the cake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, indicating the cake is fully cooked. This should result in a cake that is firm to the touch and slightly pulling away from the sides of the pan.
  7. While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup according to your preferred recipe or use a store-bought option. Once the cake is out of the oven, let it cool slightly in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  8. Pour the syrup evenly over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in thoroughly. Let the cake cool completely in the pan, which will help the syrup to fully infuse the cake, making it moist and flavorful.
  9. Once cooled, carefully remove the cake from the pan and transfer it to a serving platter. Slice and serve the cake at room temperature, allowing the flavors to be fully appreciated.
