Filipino Sweet Syrup Cake 2

Filipino Sweet Syrup Cake 2 is a beloved dessert that graces many Filipino home tables. It is a simple yet indulgent treat, made with staple ingredients like flour, sugar, butter, and eggs. The cake is soaked in a sweet syrup, giving it a moist and rich texture that is both comforting and satisfying.

This cake is typically enjoyed in family gatherings and celebrations, where its sweet, buttery flavor is a reminder of home-cooked warmth. It's a dish that embodies the Filipino spirit of sharing, with each slice offering a taste of tradition and the joy of communal dining.

Ingredients

  • 200 gflour
  • 150 gsugar
  • 100 gbutter
  • 3eggs
  • syrupto soak

Method

  1. Start by taking the 100 g of butter out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature until it softens. This will make it easier to cream with sugar. Also, bring the 3 eggs to room temperature by leaving them out for about 30 minutes. Room temperature eggs will mix more evenly into the batter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 150 g of sugar using a wooden spoon or an electric mixer. Mix until the mixture is light and fluffy, with a pale yellow color. This step incorporates air into the batter, which helps the cake rise.
  3. Add the room temperature eggs to the creamed butter and sugar, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. The batter should become smooth and slightly thicker. This gradual incorporation ensures a uniform texture.
  4. Sift 200 g of flour into the wet mixture, folding it gently with a spatula. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the batter. Overmixing can lead to a dense cake.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  6. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake until the cake is golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The cake should have a springy texture when lightly pressed.
  7. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. This prevents the cake from becoming soggy.
  8. Prepare the syrup to soak the cake, ensuring it is warm but not hot. Pour the syrup evenly over the cooled cake, allowing it to soak in thoroughly. This step adds moisture and sweetness, enhancing the cake's flavor.
  9. Serve the Filipino Sweet Syrup Cake at room temperature, allowing the flavors to meld. This cake is best enjoyed with family and friends, embodying the spirit of Filipino home cooking.
