Persian Sweet Syrup Cake 2

Persian Sweet Syrup Cake 2 is a delightful treat that graces many Persian home tables, especially during casual family gatherings and teatime. This version captures the essence of how it is lovingly prepared in Persian households, where salt is not measured but felt, and butter is embraced with generosity. This cake is not about ceremony or occasion but about the everyday joy of sharing something sweet and homemade.

The cake offers a soft, tender crumb that is soaked through with a fragrant syrup, transforming each bite into a blissful experience. The buttery richness is perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the syrup, creating a harmonious dessert that invites a second helping. It is a simple, yet indulgent pleasure, reflective of the warmth and comfort of a Persian home.

Ingredients

  • 200 gflour
  • 150 gsugar
  • 100 gbutter
  • 3eggs
  • syrupto soak

Method

  1. Begin by bringing 100 g of butter to room temperature. This will ensure it creams smoothly with the sugar, creating a light and fluffy base for your cake. Additionally, let 3 eggs sit out until they reach room temperature, which helps them incorporate more easily into the batter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the 100 g of softened butter and 150 g of sugar using a wooden spoon or a hand mixer. Continue until the mixture is pale and fluffy, indicating that the sugar has dissolved into the butter.
  3. Add the 3 room-temperature eggs to the butter and sugar mixture, one at a time. Beat well after each addition until fully incorporated. This gradual addition helps maintain the batter's emulsion, preventing it from curdling.
  4. Sift 200 g of flour into the bowl, folding it gently into the wet mixture using a spatula. Be careful not to overmix; stop when the flour is just combined and no streaks remain. This ensures the cake remains tender.
  5. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a cake pan with butter and lightly dust it with flour to prevent sticking. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula for even baking.
  6. Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake until the top is golden brown and a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. This will indicate that the cake is fully cooked and has set properly.
  7. While the cake bakes, prepare the syrup if not already done. Once the cake is out of the oven, let it cool slightly in the pan. Then, while still warm, pour the syrup over the cake, allowing it to soak in thoroughly. This step infuses the cake with moisture and sweetness.
  8. Once the syrup has been absorbed and the cake has cooled to a comfortable temperature, slice and serve. This cake is best enjoyed with family and friends, embodying the spirit of Persian home cooking.
