Caribbean Cucumber Salad 2

Serves 4 to 6 Salad vegetarian, Salads

Caribbean Cucumber Salad 2

In the warmth of a Caribbean home, there's a refreshing staple that finds its way to the table, especially when the sun is at its peak. Caribbean Cucumber Salad 2 is not just a dish, but a reflection of how family cooks bring life to simple ingredients. It's crafted with a keen eye and a generous hand, echoing the relaxed, communal spirit of the islands.

Expect a cool, creamy embrace from the yogurt, laced with the subtle bite of garlic and the gentle whisper of dill. The cucumbers provide a crisp counterpoint, while a carefully judged pinch of sea salt ties it all together, inviting diners to linger and savor each bite.

Ingredients

  • 2cucumbers
  • 200 gyogurt
  • 1 clovegarlic
  • dill — chopped
  • to tastefine sea salt

Method

  1. Start by washing and drying 2 cucumbers thoroughly. Using a sharp knife, slice the cucumbers into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick. This thickness allows the cucumbers to absorb the dressing while maintaining a crisp texture. Set the sliced cucumbers aside in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Peel and finely mince 1 clove of garlic. The finer the garlic, the more evenly it will distribute its flavor throughout the salad. Add the minced garlic to the bowl with the cucumbers.
  3. Measure 200 g of yogurt and add it to the bowl. The yogurt serves as a creamy base that balances the fresh crunch of the cucumbers. Stir gently to coat the cucumber slices evenly without breaking them.
  4. Finely chop a handful of fresh dill and add it to the bowl. Dill adds a fragrant, herbaceous note that complements the coolness of the cucumbers. Mix gently to combine.
  5. Season the salad with fine sea salt to taste. Sprinkle the salt evenly over the salad and toss gently. The salt will draw out the natural juices of the cucumbers, enhancing their flavor.
  6. Once the salad is well mixed and seasoned, taste and adjust salt if necessary. The flavors should be balanced, with the creaminess of the yogurt, the freshness of the dill, and a hint of garlic.
  7. Transfer the salad to a serving dish and serve immediately. The salad is best enjoyed fresh, while the cucumbers are still crisp. Pair it with bread for a complete Caribbean home-style meal.
