Indian Bean Salad 3

Indian Bean Salad 3 is a humble yet cherished dish often prepared in Indian home kitchens. Passed down through generations, it embodies the essence of everyday cooking where precision is guided by intuition. This version captures the spirit of family meals, where recipes are shared and adapted, never confined to paper until now. Designed for the joy of communal dining, it brings the warmth of a shared table to life.

The salad offers a delightful interplay of textures and flavors. The creamy beans contrast with the crispness of fresh onions, while a generous drizzle of olive oil and a splash of vinegar add a tangy depth. Parsley provides a burst of color and a hint of freshness, all harmonized by a careful, instinctive seasoning of fine sea salt. This is a dish that celebrates the simplicity and heart of home cooking.

Ingredients

  • 400 gcooked beans
  • 1onion
  • 80 mlolive oil
  • 2 tbspvinegar
  • parsley — chopped
  • to tastefine sea salt

Method

  1. Begin by finely chopping 1 onion. The onion should be diced small enough to blend well with the beans while still providing a slight crunch. This will add texture and a mild sharpness to the salad.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 400 g of cooked beans with the chopped onion. Use a bowl that gives you enough space to toss the ingredients without spilling. This ensures that the beans and onions are evenly distributed.
  3. Drizzle 80 ml of olive oil over the bean and onion mixture. The oil will coat the beans, adding richness and helping the other flavors to meld together.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar to the bowl. The vinegar provides a tangy contrast to the richness of the olive oil, balancing the flavors. Stir gently to ensure the vinegar is evenly mixed with the oil.
  5. Season the salad with fine sea salt to taste. Start with a small amount and adjust as needed, tasting to ensure the salt enhances the flavors without overpowering them.
  6. Finely chop a handful of fresh parsley and sprinkle it over the salad. The parsley adds a fresh, herbaceous note that complements the other ingredients.
  7. Gently toss the salad using two large spoons or your hands. The goal is to combine the ingredients while keeping the beans intact to maintain their texture.
  8. Serve the Indian Bean Salad 3 immediately with bread on the side. The freshness of the salad pairs well with the bread, making it a perfect dish for sharing.
