Persian Cucumber Salad 2

Serves 4 to 6 Salad vegetarian, Salads

Persian Cucumber Salad 2

Persian Cucumber Salad 2 is a staple at Persian home tables, embodying the everyday art of relaxed hospitality. This dish finds its place in the heart of family meals, where the salt is measured by intuition, and the yogurt is spooned with generosity. It's a recipe that reflects the warmth and spontaneity of Persian home cooking, where exact proportions are less important than the act of gathering and sharing.

The salad offers a refreshing contrast of textures and flavors: the crisp cucumbers against the creamy yogurt, with garlic providing a gentle bite and dill a fragrant lift. It's a dish that invites you to taste as you go, adjusting the fine sea salt to your liking, creating a personal harmony in each serving.

Ingredients

  • 2cucumbers
  • 200 gyogurt
  • 1 clovegarlic
  • dill — chopped
  • to tastefine sea salt

Method

  1. Start by washing and drying 2 cucumbers thoroughly. Peel them if desired, then slice them into thin rounds, about 1/4 inch thick. Place the cucumber slices in a large mixing bowl to keep them cool and crisp.
  2. In a separate small bowl, combine 200 g of yogurt with one finely minced clove of garlic. Stir the mixture until the garlic is evenly distributed throughout the yogurt, creating a smooth and creamy texture.
  3. Chop a handful of fresh dill finely and add it to the yogurt mixture. Stir well to incorporate the dill, which will infuse the yogurt with its aromatic flavor.
  4. Pour the yogurt dressing over the cucumber slices in the mixing bowl. Add fine sea salt to taste, starting with a small pinch and adjusting as needed. The salt should enhance the flavors without overpowering them.
  5. Gently toss the cucumbers with the yogurt dressing using a wooden spoon or your hands. Be careful to keep the cucumber slices intact, ensuring they are evenly coated with the dressing.
  6. Transfer the salad to a serving dish and garnish with additional dill if desired. Serve immediately with fresh bread, allowing the cool, creamy salad to complement the meal.
