Mantar Sote 2

Mantar Sote 2 captures the essence of Turkish home cooking, where the joy of preparing food is as important as the flavors themselves. This dish, with its straightforward ingredients, is a staple in many Turkish households, perfect for a casual weeknight meal or a laid-back weekend lunch. A generous hand with the salt and fat reflects the intuitive cooking style of family kitchens, where exact measurements are often left to experience and taste.

As the mushrooms sizzle in butter, they release a deep, earthy aroma, mingling with the warmth of garlic. Each bite is a tender, savory delight, with a subtle hint of pepper and the fresh brightness of parsley. Mantar Sote 2 invites diners to savor the simplicity of well-cooked mushrooms, celebrating the comforting flavors of home.

Ingredients

  • 500 gmushrooms
  • 2 tbspbutter
  • 2 clovesgarlic
  • parsley — chopped
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Begin by cleaning 500 g of mushrooms with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Slice them evenly into thick slices, about 1/4 inch thick, to ensure they cook uniformly. Mince 2 cloves of garlic finely and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Once the butter is fully melted and begins to foam slightly, add the minced garlic. Stir the garlic for about 30 seconds until it becomes fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir them gently to coat them evenly with the butter and garlic. Cook the mushrooms, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and begin to turn a golden brown color. This should take about 5 to 7 minutes, and the mushrooms will reduce in size and become tender.
  4. Season the mushrooms with fine sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Stir well to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  5. Chop a handful of fresh parsley finely and sprinkle it over the mushrooms. Stir to combine and let the parsley wilt slightly, which should take about a minute.
  6. Transfer the Mantar Sote to a serving dish and serve warm. Enjoy this simple yet flavorful dish as part of a shared meal, true to Turkish home cooking tradition.
