Korean Meat Pastry Bites 2

Korean Meat Pastry Bites 2 captures the essence of a well-loved home dish, crafted with the intuitive touch of a Korean family cook. Richly seasoned ground beef and finely chopped onions are enveloped in delicate pastry wrappers, a reflection of the generous spirit found in Korean kitchens. This dish is a staple at family gatherings, where the table is set for sharing, and salt is sprinkled with care, echoing generations of culinary wisdom.

The result is a crispy, golden exterior that gives way to a savory, juicy filling, perfectly balanced with the warmth of black pepper and the richness of beef. Each bite is a delightful contrast of textures, inviting you to savor the harmonious blend of flavors that make these bites a beloved staple.

Ingredients

  • 300 gground beef
  • 1onion
  • 12pastry wrappers
  • for fryingoil
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Begin by finely chopping 1 onion. The smaller the pieces, the better they will integrate into the beef mixture, ensuring a consistent flavor throughout each bite.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 300 g ground beef with the chopped onion. Season the mixture with fine sea salt and black pepper to taste. Use your hands to mix thoroughly, ensuring the onion is evenly distributed throughout the beef.
  3. Lay out the 12 pastry wrappers on a clean surface. Place a small spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each wrapper, being careful not to overfill. Fold the wrappers over the filling, sealing the edges by pressing them together firmly. You can use a little water on your fingers to help seal the edges if needed.
  4. Heat a generous amount of frying oil in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat. The oil should be hot enough that a small piece of pastry sizzles immediately when added.
  5. Carefully place the filled pastry bites into the hot oil, ensuring they are not overcrowded in the pan. Fry them in batches if necessary. Cook each side until the pastry is golden brown and crisp, about 3-4 minutes per side. The beef inside should be fully cooked, with no pink remaining.
  6. Once cooked, remove the pastry bites from the oil and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
  7. Finish by sprinkling the pastry bites with a little more fine sea salt to enhance the flavors. Serve immediately while hot, encouraging everyone to share and enjoy the crispy, savory bites.
