Thai Meat Pastry Bites 3

Thai Meat Pastry Bites 3 is a beloved staple at family tables, where it reflects the simplicity and generosity of home cooking. This dish originates from the tradition of Thai home cooks, who rely on their instincts rather than strict measurements, especially when it comes to seasoning with salt. Crafted for sharing, these bites capture the essence of communal dining, often enjoyed as a casual yet satisfying addition to any meal.

The filling of ground beef and onion is wrapped in delicate pastry, creating a delightful contrast of textures. The exterior is crispy and golden, while the interior remains juicy and flavorful, seasoned with fine sea salt and black pepper to taste. Enjoy these bites fresh from the pan, allowing the savory warmth to envelop you with each bite.

Ingredients

  • 300 gground beef
  • 1onion
  • 12pastry wrappers
  • for fryingoil
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Begin by finely chopping 1 onion. This will ensure it cooks evenly and integrates well with the ground beef. Set the chopped onion aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 300 g of ground beef with the chopped onion. Season the mixture with fine sea salt and black pepper to taste, ensuring the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  3. Lay out the 12 pastry wrappers on a clean surface. Place a small spoonful of the beef and onion mixture in the center of each wrapper, being careful not to overfill. Fold the wrappers over the filling, sealing the edges by pinching them together firmly.
  4. In a large frying pan, pour enough oil to cover the bottom generously and heat it over medium-high heat. The oil is ready when a small piece of pastry sizzles upon contact.
  5. Carefully place the filled pastry bites into the hot oil, ensuring they do not overcrowd the pan. Fry them in batches if necessary. Cook each side until the pastry is golden brown and crisp, which will take a few minutes per side.
  6. Once the pastry bites are golden and crispy, remove them from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  7. Finish by sprinkling a little more fine sea salt over the hot pastry bites to enhance their flavor. Serve immediately while they are still warm and crispy, perfect for sharing at the table.
