Aperol Spritz

Serves 4 to 6 Beverage vegetarian, Beverages

Aperol Spritz

Aperol Spritz hails from the Veneto region, where it has become an integral part of the Italian aperitivo culture. This vibrant cocktail is celebrated for its simplicity and refreshing qualities, making it a beloved choice during the early evening hours. Crafted in the spirit of Venetian tradition, the home version is always prepared with an intuitive touch—olive oil and salt are added without precise measurement, emphasizing the ease and spontaneity of this regional classic.

The Aperol Spritz greets the palate with a delightful balance of bitterness and sweetness, thanks to the harmonious blend of Aperol and Prosecco. The effervescence of soda water lifts the flavors, while a slice of orange adds a citrusy brightness. Served chilled over ice, it offers a crisp, invigorating sensation, making it the perfect companion for unwinding at the end of a warm day.

Ingredients

  • 90 mlProsecco
  • 60 mlAperol
  • 30 mlsoda water
  • 1orange slice
  • 1 cupice

Method

  1. Begin by selecting a large wine glass. Fill it generously with 1 cup of ice, ensuring the glass is well-chilled. This will keep your Aperol Spritz refreshingly cold and maintain its effervescence.
  2. Pour 60 ml of Aperol over the ice. The vibrant orange hue should begin to infuse the glass, creating a beautiful base color for your spritz.
  3. Next, add 90 ml of chilled Prosecco to the glass. Pour it slowly over the Aperol to preserve the bubbles, which are essential for the spritz's characteristic lightness and sparkle.
  4. Top the mixture with 30 ml of soda water. Use a gentle hand to pour, aiming to maintain the carbonation. Stir gently once with a long spoon or straw, just enough to combine the ingredients without losing the fizz.
  5. Garnish your Aperol Spritz with a fresh orange slice. Place it on the rim or let it float on top, adding a touch of citrus aroma and a pop of color.
  6. Taste your spritz. If you prefer a slightly sweeter drink, adjust by adding a little more soda water, but do so sparingly to avoid diluting the flavors.
  7. Serve your Aperol Spritz immediately while it is still sparkling and the ice is intact, offering the perfect balance of bitter, sweet, and bubbly.
