Korean Fried Bites 2

Korean Fried Bites 2 captures the essence of Korean home cooking, where the kitchen becomes a playground for intuitive seasoning and generous frying. This dish is a staple in Korean households, often appearing on the table during casual family meals or impromptu gatherings with friends. It’s about embracing the spontaneity of home-cooked meals, where precise measurements give way to the cook’s instincts and preferences.

Crispy on the outside and tender within, these bites deliver a delightful crunch followed by the comforting warmth of perfectly cooked vegetables. The subtle hint of lemon adds a refreshing lift, while a sprinkle of fine sea salt and black pepper rounds out the flavors. Serve them hot and share the joy of simple, satisfying bites that bring everyone to the table, eager for just one more piece.

Ingredients

  • 400 gvegetables — sliced
  • 100 gflour
  • for fryingoil
  • lemon — to serve
  • to tastefine sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Start by washing and preparing your 400 g of vegetables. Choose a mix of vegetables like zucchini, carrots, and bell peppers for a variety of textures and flavors. Slice them into bite-sized pieces, ensuring they are all roughly the same size for even cooking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced vegetables with 100 g of flour. Toss them well so that each piece is lightly coated. This will help the vegetables crisp up nicely when fried.
  3. Heat a generous amount of oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. You want enough oil to submerge the vegetables halfway, ensuring they fry evenly. Wait until the oil shimmers and a small piece of vegetable sizzles immediately when added.
  4. Carefully add the floured vegetables to the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy, which should take about 3-4 minutes per batch. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
  5. Once all the vegetables are fried, transfer them to a large serving bowl. Squeeze the juice of a lemon over the top, adding a bright, fresh flavor that complements the fried coating.
  6. Season the fried vegetables with fine sea salt and black pepper to taste. Toss everything gently to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed. Serve immediately while the bites are hot and crispy, perfect for sharing around the table.
