Peruvian Fruit Drink 2

Peruvian Fruit Drink 2 is a staple at home tables, a refreshing testament to the practical yet indulgent nature of Peruvian home cooking. Crafted with the ease and intuition that comes from countless preparations, it's a drink that finds its way into many family gatherings, a symbol of simplicity and generosity. The salt is measured with care, the fat is unapologetically generous, and every sip invites a moment of shared pleasure.

On the palate, this drink is a bright burst of citrus, balanced by the gentle sweetness of sugar, making it both invigorating and soothing. The water smooths the sharp edges, while a generous handful of ice ensures it's served at its most refreshing. With each glass, there's an invitation to linger, to savor the balance of flavors that speak of home and familiarity.

Ingredients

  • 4lemons or oranges
  • 100 gsugar
  • 1 Lwater
  • as neededice

Method

  1. Begin by preparing the citrus fruits. If using lemons, roll them firmly on a countertop to release their juices. Cut each lemon or orange in half, and use a juicer or your hands to extract the juice. Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve into a large bowl to remove seeds and pulp, ensuring a smooth drink.
  2. Measure 100 g of sugar and add it to the bowl with the citrus juice. Stir gently with a wooden spoon until the sugar is fully dissolved. This step is crucial to balance the tartness of the citrus with sweetness, creating a harmonious base for the drink.
  3. Pour 1 liter of water into the bowl with the sweetened citrus juice. Stir slowly to combine, taking care not to agitate the mixture too much, which could cause the aromas to dissipate. The liquid should appear clear and uniform, with no sugar granules visible.
  4. To chill the drink, cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together, enhancing the refreshing quality of the drink. The drink should be cold to the touch when ready.
  5. When you are ready to serve, fill a pitcher with ice cubes. Pour the chilled fruit drink over the ice, letting it cascade gently to avoid splashing. This step ensures the drink remains cold and refreshing as it is served.
  6. Serve the Peruvian Fruit Drink 2 immediately in traditional glassware, such as tall tumblers or glass mugs. The drink should be enjoyed fresh, with its vibrant citrus aroma and perfectly balanced sweetness, embodying the spirit of a Peruvian home gathering.
