Spris Layered Juice

Spris Layered Juice finds its roots in the bustling juice bars of Ethiopia, where the vibrant layers draw both locals and visitors alike. This home version captures the spirit of those gatherings, bringing the juice bar's allure into your kitchen. It is a vibrant celebration of fresh fruit, layered with care to create a visual and flavorful delight.

The taste is a harmonious blend of creamy avocado, tropical mango, and the bright sweetness of papaya or strawberry. Each sip offers a refreshing contrast of textures, with the smoothness of the puree meeting the chill of crushed ice. Enjoy it as a colorful refreshment that invites you to savor each layer.

Ingredients

  • 1 cupavocado puree
  • 1 cupmango puree
  • 1 cuppapaya or strawberry puree
  • as neededice

Method

  1. Start by preparing each fruit puree. For the avocado puree, scoop the flesh of ripe avocados into a blender and blend until completely smooth. Ensure there are no lumps, as a smooth texture is crucial for even layering. Repeat this process separately for the mango and either papaya or strawberry, making sure each puree is velvety and uniform.
  2. Taste each puree to determine if additional sweetness is needed. If desired, add a small amount of sugar or honey to each puree and blend again briefly to incorporate. This step ensures that each layer has a balanced sweetness, enhancing the natural flavors of the fruits.
  3. Prepare your serving glasses by placing a few ice cubes at the bottom of each. The ice will keep the juice chilled and refreshing, which is essential for the enjoyment of this layered drink.
  4. Begin layering the purees in a tall glass. Start with the avocado puree, gently spooning it into the glass to form the base layer. The thickness of the avocado puree will help support the layers above it.
  5. Next, carefully add the mango puree on top of the avocado layer. Use the back of a spoon to gently spread the mango puree, ensuring it sits evenly on top without mixing with the avocado. The distinct layers should be visible through the glass.
  6. Finally, add the papaya or strawberry puree as the top layer. Again, use the back of a spoon to gently spread it over the mango layer, maintaining the separation of colors. The vibrant layers should be clearly defined, creating an appealing visual contrast.
  7. Serve the Spris Layered Juice immediately while it is cold. The distinct layers of color and flavor should be evident, inviting everyone to enjoy the refreshing and aromatic experience.
