Brasileiro Nut Sweet

Brasileiro Nut Sweet is a beloved treat that finds its way to Brazilian tables during festive occasions and family gatherings. It's a dish that captures the essence of home cooking, prepared with an intuitive touch — a pinch of salt here, a generous spoonful of butter there. This version reflects the way it's lovingly crafted in Brazilian households, where measuring cups give way to practiced hands and trusted instincts.

This sweet delight offers a rich, buttery crunch, thanks to a combination of nuts and a hint of salt, perfectly balanced with the sweetness of sugar. The texture is both tender and crisp, a satisfying contrast that makes each bite memorable. Enjoy it as a standalone treat or paired with a warm beverage, allowing the flavors to dance across your palate.

Ingredients

  • 200 gnuts — chopped
  • 150 gsugar
  • 100 gbutter
  • 2eggs
  • 100 gflour

Method

  1. Begin by taking the 100 g of butter out of the refrigerator and allowing it to come to room temperature. This will make it easier to cream with the sugar later. Also, crack the 2 eggs into a small bowl and let them sit at room temperature. This helps them incorporate more smoothly into the batter.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the room-temperature butter over low heat. Once melted, add 150 g of sugar to the pan. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool slightly. Gradually whisk in the 2 room-temperature eggs, one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. This will prevent the eggs from cooking too quickly and curdling.
  4. Once the eggs are fully mixed in, sift 100 g of flour into the saucepan. Gently fold the flour into the mixture using a spatula, being careful not to overmix. The batter should be smooth and free of lumps.
  5. Chop 200 g of nuts into small, even pieces and fold them into the batter. Ensure the nuts are evenly distributed throughout the mixture for consistent flavor in every bite.
  6. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish with butter and pour the batter into it, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, indicating the sweet is fully set.
  7. Once baked, remove the Brasileiro Nut Sweet from the oven and let it cool in the dish for about 10 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld and the texture to set further. Serve warm or at room temperature, allowing the rich, buttery aroma to invite everyone to the table.
