Thai Shrimp Pan 2

Thai Shrimp Pan 2 reflects the heart of Thai home cooking, where recipes are often passed down through generations without ever being written. This dish is a staple at family meals, showcasing the intuitive cooking style that defines Thai kitchens. It captures the essence of home tables, where ingredients are measured by feel and taste, and dishes are meant for sharing, bringing everyone together over a simple yet flavorful meal.

Expect a vibrant medley of flavors; the plump shrimp are infused with the warmth of garlic and a hint of chili heat, balanced by the brightness of fresh lemon juice. Generous olive oil coats each bite, enhancing the shrimp’s natural sweetness, while a careful sprinkle of sea salt ties everything together. This dish is a celebration of balance and simplicity, perfect for a satisfying meal among friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 600 gshrimp
  • 4 clovesgarlic
  • 80 mlolive oil
  • lemonjuiced
  • to tastechili
  • to tastefine sea salt

Method

  1. Start by cleaning the 600 g of shrimp. Remove the shells and devein them by making a shallow cut along the back and pulling out the dark vein. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels to ensure they sear properly in the pan.
  2. Peel and finely chop the 4 cloves of garlic. In a large skillet, heat 80 ml of olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the garlic and sauté gently. Stir continuously until the garlic is golden and fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook them for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and are just opaque in the center. The shrimp should curl slightly and have a firm texture.
  4. Squeeze the juice of one lemon over the shrimp in the pan. Add chili to taste, adjusting the amount based on your preference for heat. Stir everything together to ensure the shrimp are well coated with the lemon juice and chili.
  5. Taste the shrimp and sprinkle with fine sea salt to your liking. Stir briefly to distribute the salt evenly. Serve the shrimp immediately, ensuring they are still warm and juicy for the best flavor experience.
