Banana-Avocado Juice

Serves 2 Beverage vegetarian, Beverages

Banana-Avocado Juice

In the bustling streets of Casablanca and Rabat, this rich and creamy juice is a beloved cafe staple. Blending the tropical sweetness of banana with the buttery smoothness of avocado, it offers a nourishing pause in the late afternoon. It's not the choice for those counting calories, but rather a moment of indulgence and rejuvenation.

The thick, milkshake-like consistency envelops your senses, delivering a lush, velvety texture with each sip. The natural sweetness of ripe fruits is enhanced by a touch of sugar, while the cold milk and ice create a refreshing chill. This luscious drink is pure comfort, perfect for unwinding after a busy day.

Ingredients

  • 1ripe avocado
  • 1banana
  • 300 mlcold milk
  • 2 tbspsugar
  • 1 cupice — optional

Method

  1. Begin by cutting the ripe avocado in half lengthwise. Twist the halves to separate them, and remove the pit by gently tapping it with a knife and twisting it out. Use a spoon to scoop out the avocado flesh into a blender, ensuring you get all the creamy parts.
  2. Peel the banana and break it into chunks, adding them to the blender with the avocado. The banana should be ripe, with a few brown spots, to ensure maximum sweetness and smooth blending.
  3. Pour 300 ml of cold milk into the blender. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar, adjusting the amount if you prefer a less sweet juice. The sugar will help balance the flavors of the avocado and banana.
  4. Secure the lid on the blender and blend the mixture on high speed until it becomes completely smooth. The texture should be creamy and uniform, with no visible chunks of banana or avocado.
  5. If you prefer your juice colder, add 1 cup of ice to the blender. Blend again until the ice is fully crushed and the juice is thick enough for a spoon to stand briefly in the mixture.
  6. Pour the juice into glasses immediately. The consistency should resemble a thick milkshake, and it's best enjoyed fresh to appreciate the vibrant flavors and creamy texture.
