Two tables: Sunday moussaka with salad, and a souvlaki night in pita.

A Greek house does not serve moussaka and souvlaki as one platter. The bake is midday. The skewer is the taverna. Spanakopita can open either night, or be lunch alone.

Sunday moussaka

The gastra, a horiatiki, bread. No souvlaki.

Moussaka with Greek salad.

Layers of eggplant, meat, béchamel. Rest so it slices. Village salad. Bread.

Do not add pita gyros as a second starch.

  1. Salt eggplant.
  2. Bake and rest.
  3. Salad at the table.

Pita, tzatziki, tomato, onion. The gastra stays in the cupboard.

Souvlaki with pita and tzatziki.

Skewers of pork or chicken, oregano, lemon. Wrap or plate with pita and tzatziki.

Moussaka is Sunday.
